Differences Between Homeopathic and Holistic
Understanding alternative medicines can be challenging. Sometimes, people focus so much on standard western medicines and forget that even the natural ones can be more effective. There are quite a number of alternative remedies but homeopathic and holistic treatments are probably the most common and well-known. The two terms are often confused for each other whenever people have to use them. There is no similarity between the two although they are related. Whenever you have to discuss the two remedies, you should place more emphasis on the treatment in question. You can learn more about how the two differentiate from each other by reading more here.
When discussion the two, you should not some key differences.Under holistic, the whole body is treated. It can be a blend of scientific medicine from the western countries and a whole body treatment such as acupuncture. Homeopathy can also fall under holistic treatments. Homeopathy is a particular way of curing a disease based on two main principles. The first principle operates under the concept that “like cures like.” It is supposed that the thing that caused the disease can also be used to treat it. A good example is the use of a mixture of bee venom to treat a swelling.
Potentization is the second principle. A homeopath will mix nine parts of distilled water or alcohol with one part of alcohol. After completion, the medicine is called “1 x potency” and a repeat of the same process for the second mixture will be called “2 x potency. It can be repeated severally until the desired potency is reached. The solution can be drank or converted into a pill.
With a specific example, understanding how homeopathic treatments are different from holistic one becomes much easier. The active ingredient used in creating insomnia and sleep disorder medicines are different but the cures are all natural.
Melatonin is a good example of the holistic version of a sleep disorder cure. it is a naturally occurring hormone in the human brain and it controls the sleep-wake cycle. Inconsistent schedules or jetlag can cause you to experience reduced melatonin when it is time to go to sleep. There are melatonin supplements that can be taken before going to bed. The supplements are aimed at helping you experience more regular sleep by increasing the melatonin levels.
By increasing the levels of the natural sleep hormone, melatonin is able to improve sleep. Homeopaths sometimes use a different approach. Another common treatment for insomnia is coffea cruda. Coffea cruda is a dilute solution that is extracted from coffee beans. Homeopaths believe that the solution can be used as medication for both insomnia and anxiety.
